SALSA General Conference outcomes

On March the 19th the SALSA General Conference took place at Brussels, Vertretung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rue Montoyer 47. During the conference the different results of the project were summarized by: Prof. Cesare Zanasi (University of Bologna), Prof. G. Schiefer (proQUANTIS), Prof. Maria Salud Rubio Lozano (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), Dr. Davi Bungestab (EMBRAPA), Prof. Aziz Galvão da Silva Jùnior (Universidade Federal de Viçosa). An interesting seminar between the representatives of the main organizations involved in implementing sustainability in the food system followed: Dr. Daniel Salter (FAO), Dr. Marieke de Ruyter de Wildt (People4Earth), Dr. Daniele Giovannucci (COSA), Dr. Lucas Simons (New Foresight/SCOPEinsight), Dr. Koen Boone (Sustainability Consortium), Dr. Coen Blomsma (ENVIFOOD). The necessity to harmonize the existing sustainability schemes and to improve the relations among initiatives aiming at the analysis and management of sustainability of the food chains emerged. SALSA role as a relevant actor in the food chain sustainability debate resulted.
